Ice Cream Cups and Spoons: Sizes for Parlours and Cafes
The DiscountTillRolls.ie TeamAs a rough guide, a 4oz cup holds a single scoop, a 5oz cup a generous single or two small scoops, and an 8oz cup two to three scoops or a small sundae. Waxed paper cups resist moisture, so they don't go soggy as the ice cream melts. Add a 95mm wooden spade and you are ready for the queue.
On a hot day in Ireland, which happens more than people admit, you want cups that stack fast and serve faster.

Waxed paper cups for one or two scoops.
Why waxed paper?
Ice cream melts, and plain paper soaks it up. A waxed coating resists moisture, so the cup stays firm in the hand until the last spoonful. The Chill cups are also a bright, fun design that suits parlours and seaside kiosks.
Spoons and spades
A 95mm wooden ice cream spade is the classic choice for scoops and gelato. For deeper sundae cups, a longer 160mm wooden dessert spoon reaches the bottom.

Tips for a busy counter
- Stack cups by size right beside the freezer.
- Price by cup, not by scoop if queues are long. It is quicker and fairer.
- Stock up before a heatwave. Order before 1pm for same-day dispatch.
