Laundry Tag Rolls and Ink Ribbons for Dry Cleaners
The DiscountTillRolls.ie TeamDry cleaners and laundries use 76mm wet strength paper rolls with an indelible ink ribbon. Wet strength paper holds together when it gets wet, and indelible ink is made to stay readable through washing and cleaning. Normal till rolls and standard ribbons are not designed for this, so the tag can fall apart or the print can run.
A lost tag means a lost garment, and nobody wants that conversation at the counter.
In this guide
What are laundry tag rolls?
They are 76mm wide rolls made from wet strength paper, printed on an impact printer with a ribbon. The tag is pinned or stapled to the garment and travels with it through the process. Ours come in boxes of 20.

Colour coding by day
Many shops use a different colour tag for each day of the week. At a glance, staff can see which garments came in when, and what is due out first. There is no official system, so pick a colour order and stick to it. Here is one example:
| Day in | Tag colour |
|---|---|
| Monday | White |
| Tuesday | Blue |
| Wednesday | Green |
| Thursday | Yellow |
| Friday | Orange |
| Saturday | Mauve |
Which ink ribbon do I need?
Use an indelible ribbon made for laundry, not a standard till ribbon. The code depends on your printer:
- Laundry ERC 30/34/38 (2929DN): for printers that take the ERC 30, 34 or 38 ribbon.
- Laundry SP700 (3157FN): for Star SP700 series printers.
Not sure which you have? The code is usually on the old ribbon cassette. Our ERC ribbon guide helps too.

Tips for tagging
- Test a new setup. Run a tag through a normal cycle before relying on a new roll or ribbon.
- Change ribbons before they go pale. Faint print is the first thing to wash out.
- Keep spare rolls of each colour. Running out of Monday's colour on a Monday throws the whole system off.
