Brother DK Labels Explained: Which DK Roll Do You Need?

Brother DK labels come in two families. DK-11xxx rolls are die-cut labels in a fixed size, and DK-22xxx rolls are continuous tape that the printer cuts to any length. Most Brother QL printers, such as the QL-700, QL-800 and QL-820NWB, take rolls up to 62mm wide. The wide-format QL-1100 and QL-1110 take rolls up to 102 to 103mm, including 4x6 inch shipping labels.

What is the difference between DK-11 and DK-22 labels?

• DK-11 (die-cut): labels are pre-cut to a fixed size, like 29x90mm address labels. The printer knows exactly where each label starts. Best for repeat jobs such as addressing or product labels.
• DK-22 (continuous): a long strip of label tape. The printer cuts each label to the length you set. Best when label lengths vary, or for signage and banners.
• DK-44 (removable): continuous tape with a removable adhesive, so it peels off cleanly.

All DK labels are direct thermal. There is no ink or ribbon, and the printer needs nothing but the roll.
