Thermal Paper Rolls for Epson, Star and Citizen Printers: Model-by-Model Guide

That covers the Epson TM-T20, TM-T88 and TM-M30, the Star TSP100, TSP143, TSP654 and mC-Print3, and Citizen CT-S thermal models. The exceptions are the impact (ribbon) models used in kitchens, like the Epson TM-U220 and Star SP700, which take 76mm bond paper and an ink ribbon.

The ERC-30, ERC-34 and ERC-38 are the same ribbon sold under three codes, so one box covers all three. It comes in black, or black and red for highlighting.

Which rolls fit Citizen printers?
Citizen's CT-S thermal receipt printers take 80mm thermal rolls, the same as Epson and Star. Some compact Citizen models are set up for 58mm paper instead, so if your printer is noticeably narrow, measure the old roll before ordering. Citizen impact printers use bond paper and a ribbon, and we stock Citizen ink ribbons too.
Should I buy 80x70 or 80x80 rolls?
Both are 80mm wide, so both fit. The difference is the diameter: an 80x80 roll carries more paper, so you change it less often. The catch is that some printers only have room for a 70mm roll, so an 80x80 would stop the lid closing.

How do I load an 80mm roll?
- Press the cover release on the front or top of the printer and lift the lid.
- Drop the roll in so the paper feeds off the bottom of the roll towards you. On almost all Epson and Star models, the shiny thermal side faces up.
- Pull a few centimetres of paper past the cutter.
- Close the lid firmly until it clicks, then tear off the excess.

The thermal roll is usually loaded upside down. Turn it so the shiny side faces the print head, or check you have not loaded bond paper by mistake.
