Verifone Paper Rolls: Which Size Does Your Verifone Take?

Verifone terminals use three roll sizes, so the model matters. The newer V-series (V200c, V400c, V400m, V240m) and the Carbon Mobile 5 take 57x40mm, as does the VX520. The portable VX670 and VX680 take a smaller 57x35mm roll. The VX570, VX810 and VX820 Duet take a larger 57x45mm roll. All are thermal, so there is no ink or ribbon to buy.

What roll does each Verifone terminal take?

Prices ex VAT. Verifone terminals are supplied under many bank and provider names in Ireland, including Elavon and Worldpay, so the logo on the screen may not be Verifone at all. The model number on the label is what counts.

How can I tell 57x35, 57x40 and 57x45 apart?

All three are 57mm wide. The difference is the roll diameter, the second number.

1. Take a full roll of the size you currently use, or check the old box.
2. Measure straight across the end of the roll, edge to edge.
3. Match it: about 35mm, about 40mm or about 45mm.

The rule of thumb is simple. You can always use a slightly smaller roll, it just runs out sooner. A roll that is too big will not let the lid close, or it will drag and jam.

Which Verifone takes the small 57x35mm roll?

The VX670 and VX680 portable terminals. They were widely used in Irish restaurants and bars for pay-at-table, and many are still in service. Because the roll is smaller, it runs out faster than a 57x40mm, so keep a few spares near the till.

Which Verifone takes the bigger 57x45mm roll?

The VX570 countertop and the VX810 and VX820 Duet units, where the PIN pad sits on a printer base. The larger roll holds more paper, so these units need changing less often.

Do Verifone terminals need ink ribbons?

No. Every Verifone model on this page prints on thermal paper, so there is no ink, cartridge or ribbon. If your receipt comes out blank, the roll is probably loaded the wrong way. Turn it over so the paper feeds from underneath. Our guide on fixing blank receipts covers the other causes.
